![]() He can also establish settlements from ruines without sending an army, what is fairly nice, but can be dangerous too, depanding on the territory. Menelaos - Has some good melee units at his disposal but his best trick is actually, that he is able to recruit Elite Units from allied factions, so he can get access to units from his archean friends. I will not lie: Odysseus has the most challenging campaign, even when his start position is fairly easy. Also he grants you a unique mechanic to siege Troy (what also works if you confederate him as someone else). His safe havens are a neat feature that allows you to not own much territory and still be able to recruit basically everywhere (so you have to defend less ground on your own, espacially inland settlements where you can only build the main building, since he is all about coast settlements). ![]() ![]() Himself he is not the best fighter but I consider him as the second best archer lord with some unique and cool tricks up his sleeves. Also Snipe is a ability some of his missile units have, also almost all his special units have a small stock of javelins that they can throw while engaging the enemy, what gives them a bit more dmg potential. Odysseus - He is all about outflanking and ambush the enemy, the most of his units have either stalk or vanguard deployment, sometimes even both. Also defeating all challengers grant special recruitment of Elite Units. ![]() His Rage is extremly helpful to win battles and make his army almost unstoppable. Also the Myrmidons who are basically the best melee units in the game. He has a some good frontline damage dealer and a lot of strong flanking spearmen and sword infantry. His factions is all about elite melee units and flanking movements. Overall the Archeans (Greeks) are a bit more focused on melee units and javelin and slinger units (each playable faction is a bit different though, I explain that a bit later) while the Illion factions (Troyans) have a more defensive frontline most of the time and overall better archers.Īchilles - Achilles is a beast on his own, espacially when in rage he can almost go on a solo carnage. Hippolyta focuses on archers, Penthesilea focuses on shock troops (and is a horde faction). Mechanics built around trade and controlling special resources.Īmazons: unique recruitment - can only recruit basic units, which can then be upgraded into better units once they gain experience. Mechanics built around pleasing the gods and speaking to dead heroes. Mechanics built around keeping Helen happy, and shares the Priam’s heir mechanic with Hector.Īeneas: focus on high numbers and shock troops. Mechanics built around alliances and Priam’s favour (race to earn enough favour to become Priam’s heir). Mechanics built around port settlements - gets bonuses in ports but limited building options anywhere else. Odysseus: focus on light troops, lots of ambush/stealth units and javelins. Unique mechanics built around Achilles’ moods (different buffs/debuffs depending on how you play) and Achilles being the best fighter in the world. Unique mechanics built around alliances (can recruit allies’ unique units) and colonising.Īchilles: most unique units in the game, very strong all-round with a focus on medium weight. Menelaus: similar roster to Agamemnon, mostly heavy troops, with a focus on axes. Unique mechanics built around vassals and tribute. Agamemnon: balanced roster focussing on heavy units.
